Claude now has a mode made for small businesses.

In May, Anthropic, the company behind Claude, launched Claude for Small Business. It is the biggest AI launch yet aimed at businesses like yours, so our first issue is about it: what it is, what it can do, and whether it is worth your time.

What it is

  • A switch inside Claude Cowork, the part of Claude that does tasks on your computer. Paying Claude users turn it on, and Claude gets a set of ready-made jobs for running a small business.
  • It connects to tools you may already use: QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
  • It asks before it acts. Claude prepares the work, like an email, a reminder or a report, and you approve it before anything goes out.

Five jobs it can do for you

  • Chase unpaid invoices. Claude finds who owes you, drafts a polite reminder for each, and waits for your OK before sending.
  • Check you can make payroll. It reads your cash in QuickBooks and your PayPal payouts and shows you the next 30 days, so a tight week is not a surprise.
  • Close the month. It matches your bank to your books, flags what does not add up, and writes a plain-English profit and loss for your accountant.
  • Get a weekly pulse. One page on sales, cash and what needs you, sent on a schedule.
  • Run a promotion. It spots a slow week, drafts the offer, and makes the images in Canva for you to check.

Is it for you?

Worth a try if you already use QuickBooks, PayPal or HubSpot and lose hours a week to admin. Less useful if your business runs on paper and WhatsApp: your bookings, orders and customers first need to live somewhere Claude can read. That first step is the kind of work we do.

One thing to try this month

Pick the job you dread most each month, like chasing invoices. Write down every step you take, in order. That list is exactly what you would hand to Claude, or to us, to take off your plate.
